Overview

'Amorita' is a charming electric riverboat. She is a 5-meter-long 'Winkle Brig', designed and built by David Smith in 1996. She has provided much joy to her current owner on the Thames for over 20 years. 

The cockpit woodwork was restored in 2022, and she comes with three different covers, including a “camping tent” for general storage, fitted in 2023; a white awning (with plastic windows) for sun and rain protection; and a tonneau cover for occasional use.

The 36-volt electric motor was installed by The Thames Electric Launch Company in Goring. She currently has 6 x 6-volt 100 amp deep cycle lead batteries that provide sufficient cruising time for  typical day out (depending on river conditions and the number of passengers). The batteries are over six years old and are due for replacement in the next 12 months, either with lead batteries (estimated at £900) or with longer-lasting (and longer-range) lithium batteries at a cost of approximately £ 1,200 - £ 1,500.
