18 years of partnership: Val Wyatt and Interboat

Val Wyatt Interboat Partnership

In 2007, Val Wyatt proudly became the sole UK importer of Interboat. Eighteen years on, the partnership remains central to our story, bringing timeless Dutch craftsmanship to the Thames and beyond.

For us, this is more than a business arrangement; it’s a collaboration rooted in family, tradition, and a love for boating that goes beyond the practical. Like us, Interboat doesn’t see boating simply as a means to travel, but as a lifestyle and a way of creating memories on the water.

Today, we’re proud to be the only company in the UK where you can explore and buy an Interboat. In this blog, we revisit the origins of our relationship, show what makes the Interboat brand so special, and introduce the latest chapter in this long-standing partnership.

The origins of our relationship with Interboat

At Val Wyatt, we’ve always chosen partners with care. With Interboat, it wasn’t only the quality of their boats that impressed us, but also their rich heritage and ethos. Based in Zwartsluis in the Netherlands, the family-run brand has deep roots in traditional Dutch sloop building.

Their philosophy is simple: create boats that combine craftsmanship and beauty with practicality and safety. It struck a chord with us immediately.

Val Wyatt’s Managing Director, Lisa Anacora, explains: “When we began working with Interboat 18 years ago, we knew we were bringing something truly unique to the UK. Their boats are a perfect fit for our approach to boating. They are timeless, elegant, and designed for people who want more than just a journey; boating is also about the experience and the memories you create along the way.”

Since then, the relationship has grown into a true partnership. Together, we’ve introduced Interboat models to the UK, tailoring advice and aftersales support for British boaters while keeping their Dutch heritage intact.

Why Interboat stands out

Few boatbuilders in Europe match Interboat’s heritage, quality, and staying power. Each model is hand-crafted in the Netherlands using traditional methods and modern technology. The result is a boat that feels solid underfoot, glides effortlessly, and endures for decades.

Here’s why these boats stand out:

Craftsmanship and detail

Step aboard an Interboat and you notice something special: the deep, comfortable seating, the intuitive helm position, and the immaculate finish. Details like non-slip decks and reinforced hulls reflect an uncompromising focus on safety and comfort.

Style and elegance

With sweeping sheer lines, traditional rope fenders, and graceful profiles, Interboat designs are elegantly understated yet instantly recognisable, turning heads on rivers and coastal waters. The blend of tradition with contemporary appeal is exquisite, suiting both newcomers and seasoned boaters.

Sociable spaces

At the heart of the Interboat ethos is the idea of building boats for connection. Open, welcoming layouts make them perfect for family time, summer evenings on the Thames, or weekend adventures.

As Lisa puts it: “We love that Interboat boats are built for people first. They’re practical, of course, but they’re also about companionship. When our customers take an Interboat out on the water, they don’t just see it as a vessel to get from A to B; it becomes part of their social connection and lifestyle.”

Spotlight on the Interboat range

Over the years, we’ve welcomed many customers to the Interboat family. Every model has its strengths, but a few stand out as icons.

The Interboat Intender 850

This model has everything you could ask for from Interboat and more. Building on the success of the Intender 820, the Intender 850 offers a large aft-sun pad and port side walk-through to luxurious cockpit seating and a whole raft of optional extras. The engine is cleverly mounted under the cockpit floor to maximise space.

Its wide choice of specs and engines (including fully electric) gives customers a boat suited to their exact needs. Exceptionally versatile, this model is ideal for both relaxed cruises on the Thames and inland waters, as well as longer trips exploring harbours and estuaries of the south coast and beyond.

The Interboat Intender 950 Cabrio

The Intender 950 Cabrio is the flagship of the Intender open boat range, designed for those who want the ultimate in space, comfort, and flexibility on the water. Every element is focused on relaxation, luxury and effortless socialising, making it ideal for long days afloat with family and friends.

The cockpit is designed with sociability in mind. A generous aft sunpad and deep wrap-around seating provide plenty of space to relax. A practical portside walkthrough allows easy movement around the boat, while thoughtful storage keeps the area clutter-free.

Attention to detail is evident throughout, with hand-stitched upholstery and the option of synthetic teak (Esthec) for the cockpit floor, swim platform, gangways, and foredeck. A huge choice of colours and interior finishes allows owners to personalise their boat to suit their style perfectly. Extras such as a fridge, pump-flush toilet, and fresh water system can also be added to enhance comfort and convenience.

Below deck, the Intender 950 Cabrio also offers the largest forward cuddy/cabin area in the Intender open day boat range, giving owners valuable extra space for changing, resting, or stowing belongings.

The Intender 950 Cabrio is the ultimate open boat for those who value space, style, and a luxurious, social boating experience.

The Interboat Intender 750

The brand-new Interboat Intender 750 is all about innovative design and use of space. Within days of its official launch, this model named Open Motorboat of the Year 2025 at the prestigious HISWA Boat of the Year Awards – a testimony to the excellent design and craftmanship.

With the engine beneath the deck, there’s no central engine box, just a sleek helm and generous, elevated seating providing panoramic views. An (optional) enclosed toilet in the bow makes it perfect for longer outings. This model captures Interboat’s philosophy: timeless design, robust build, great socialising space, and thoughtful touches that make every journey enjoyable.

As Lisa notes: “The Interboat Intender 750 is a boat we love. It represents the very best of Interboat’s design philosophy, and we’re proud to be the only place in the UK where you can experience it. For anyone considering an Interboat, the 750 is a must-see.”

The classic range

No review of the Interboat range is complete without the classics. The Interboat 17 (the best-selling model in the Netherlands) and Interboat 19 seat eight people. Offering comfort and simplicity, these boats are perfect for leisurely cruising inland or navigating calm coastal waters. Their operation is also simple, so these are ideal boats for beginners.

For longer adventures, the Interboat 22 Xplorer adds the option of a wash basin and toilet so that you can cruise further afield.

Shared values, lasting partnership

It’s not just the boats that have forged our eighteen-year partnership with Interboat; it’s our shared outlook and values. We both treat customers like family, care about the small details, and see boating as a lifestyle, not just a purchase.

Jerry Schuiten, Owner of Interboat, says:  “Working with Val Wyatt has always been a natural fit for us. Their focus on personal service, attention to detail, and passion for boating matches our own. Together, we’ve been able to introduce Interboat to a new audience in the UK, while ensuring every customer feels supported long after they step aboard. This mutual respect and shared vision have brought Interboat to British waters with real success.”
