Supporting the marine industry’s Global Women’s Walk 2025

The women in the Val Wyatt team will be lacing up their walking boots and raising funds as they take part in the Global Women’s Walk on Tuesday 15th April, ahead of International Women in Maritime Day next month (Sunday 18th May).
This initiative – presented in partnership with Metstrade, British Marine, Soundings Trade Only Group and Marine Industry News – encourages participants to walk 5km in a location of their choosing to recognise the contribution of women in the marine industry.
It is also raising vital funds for Room to Read, a charity dedicated to improving girls’ education and literacy around the world.
While most participants across the UK will take part between 11th and 18th May, the Val Wyatt team – hopefully along with other women in the marine industry locally – will be stepping out a few weeks early. The walk will start and finish from the river bank opposite Willow Marina, following a scenic towpath route along the Oxfordshire Thames bank.
To support this fantastic charity, Val Wyatt will be donating £100 for every person taking part. The funds raised will go towards Room to Read’s mission to develop children’s foundational literacy, as well as life skills that promote gender equality. This is done through training and coaching educators, creating quality learning materials and spaces, strengthening education systems, and delivering programmes directly and with partners.
Lisa Anacora, Managing Director at Val Wyatt, said: “We’re really excited to take part in the Global Women’s Walk on 15th April. Due to existing commitments, we weren’t able to host our walk in May – but it was an opportunity we didn’t want to miss.
“There are still too few women in our industry – especially locally – so this is a rare and meaningful opportunity to come together, walk with purpose and lift others up, helping girls across the world access education, mentorship and support.
“If you’re a woman involved in the marine industry, we’d love you to come and join us so please do get in touch.”
